Sports is entertainment. You can decide how much you want to invest in it, and when the investment is "bad" for you.

I would suggest that if someone gets emotionally unstable watching BYU football this season, or is overly depressed at the outcome of games this season, and it is effecting their mood, etc., then maybe it's OK to step away and get their entertainment elsewhere for a time so that they can get their emotions back into regulation. Nothing wrong with that.

Fans are fans - we'll take all the fans of any sort we can get. If some of them are fairweather, that's OK. Hopefully the team will give them a reason to come back.
