Note, I'm talking about assistant coaches, which is where I think our biggest issue is. Norm Chow seems to suggest that our budget for assistants is slightly more than Hawaii's was at 1.1 million for ALL. So lets say its 1.4 for BYU. That isn't that much money in todays game to be split amongst that many coaches, which currently number 14 on the site. Is it also a factor in why we hired guys without recent, if not any college coaching experience? Personally I have to think so, or Kalani is just really, really in favor of hiring friends.
I'll disagree with you completely - another couple of million would help us attract assistant coach candidates who are either (1) proven or (2) hot prospects versus (3) newbies.
If we're going to have to start over with new assistant coaches, then I'd rather start from a position of having $ to be attractive enough that assistant coaches from other schools would be interested, rather than just being interested due to it being the college they went to or grew up nearby.
