My folks moved from Utah after they married in the 60s, I believe
to get away from family. After a few moves between Corvallis and Portland, we settled in Gladstone (suburb south of Portland). They lived there almost 30 years. My Dad retired and they were looking to downsize in the Portland/Vancouver area. At some point, I'm pretty sure my Mom told my Dad that she was moving to Utah and that he was welcome to join her. My folks came over for a visit and I talked to my Dad when Mom was in the other room. My Dad was bitter. I had never heard him negative like that in my life. He loved the Northwest and didn't want to leave. Fortunately, the move was great for them. My Mom found a Doctor who helped her immensely with a heart issue she was having. My Father was able to perform volunteer work with the church using his Civil Engineering background and well as genealogy stuff at BYU. He thanked my Mom later for getting him to move there. Glad it worked out for them.
