I think, & who could blame him? His teenagers have come & gone, & I think that reflects in the way he approaches his job.
I also think--like Anae & Chow both--he tries very hard to be blind to ethnicity. His heritage is important to him, but I get he kinda hates wearing it like a badge. As for Kalani, I think he's above ethnicity too, but he's willing to put the badge on when it's either needed or comfortable. And I honestly don't have a problem with that at all.
