If BYU changed its standards to something less stringently Mormon, more non-LDS athletes would likely attend. While this might actually result in a lower rate of Polynesians, I would think all other non-white races are represented in the non-LDS athlete population at a higher rate than in the LDS athlete population. So, yeah, by simple math that would mean more racial minorities at BYU.

I think it is a problem to call this "lowering" standards rather than merely changing them, but I can see that side of the argument.
