BYU's roster turnover from year to year since 2008-09 (updated)

These are BYU's top 5 rotation pieces in terms of Percentage of Minutes Played for BYU since Jimmer's sophomore year. The players in bold were in the top 5 the previous year.

This is what I wrote when I initially posted this:

"Next year's top 5 will have 4 of those players in bold for the first time ever for Coach Rose (you can see how rare it is to even have just 3 coming back). And, if Mika stays, it could be all 5 players coming back the next year (Bryant). We are heading into a pretty special period for BYU basketball."

Obviously we lost Mika and Emery. LJ Rose graduated. Again, I can say that BYU will have 4 maybe 5 returning high minutes players returning next year for the first time ever for Dave Rose. Our best seasons are when we at least have 3 coming back.

SMC has 3 back this year. They had 4 returners in 2017. With all that Gonzaga lost, they still had 3 of their top 5 players in minutes played return this year. They only had one returner last year, which makes their championship run that much more amazing. Also, it shows how important recruiting is. Getting a one-and-done player, with 3 solid P5 transfers help tremendously. We don't ever get that. We need continuity with how we have to recruit.
