you may need to check and see if you need to amend. Until Friday of last week, tax return software was not giving individuals the deduction for mortgage insurance premiums because the deduction had not been extended. It was extended Friday. This means that if your return was already filed and accepted by the IRS you will probably need to amend. This is the same for nonbusiness energy credits, which include energy efficient improvements to your primary residence.
This sucks for us CPAs who had no idea this was going to be extended and have already filed a bunch of returns. Any CPAs seen any guidance on this? I am sure we will just have to amend.
