This post assumes BYU is just like any other school.
Sorry, but BYU stands out, stands above ANY other school. It is a unique place with outstanding academics. It is established specifically for the saint in the last days.

Your point holds no water since playing at BYU can and does put players in the NFL to those who deserve it. There’s no need to attend Yale or Harvard if BYU can and does gets its graduates to any grad school to those that deserve it.

When the day comes when BYU football or athletics no longer exists and you find yourself watching a football game on ESPN and asking yourself “wouldn’t it be cool if there was a Mormon school with Mormon athletes?” don’t say there wasn’t an effort.

BYU is not for everyone primarily because everyone can not get in. If one can get in then they should attend (or play). I believe a Mormon should commit their time and talents to building up the church, its members, it’s resources, it’s institutions, and all other related programs and affiliated memberships. This includes BYU.

If you keep spreading a message that BYU should not be preferred for the young saint in the last days simply because Alabama might get him a better shot at a professional career then you’re missing the entire reason BYU was established.
