When you park, be as inconspicuous as you can while near the car.
You don't want to announce to the world that you are tourists and you'll be leaving your car to go site seeing. And make sure nothing in the car gives it away as a tourist's car. Put pillows, travel snacks, GPS, and whatever else in the trunk or under the seats.

Use public transportation especially in the big cities. It is much quicker and cheaper that trying to drive.
