Lavell recruited more from CA and other states then in UT. The 1984 team for example, only had 24 UT players on the 90 man roster.
There was 27 from CA and 9 from the Islands, and 30 players from other states. To be good, our recruiting should be limited to about 5 Utah kids a year (no skill position kids from UT, only lineman, LB's and maybe kickers). Quit offering wide receivers from Lone Peak, etc. In my opinion we need more kids from Texas, Cali, AZ and other states and less from UT.
