It's not about Utah vs not. It's about getting the best and then knowing
when to cut it off and go elsewhere. There was good reason to load up on Utah recruits in the 2017 class. We cleaned up pretty well and did better than any other school. Utah will continue to have more and more legit options and you need to take the best you can get. But you have to have a cutoff. You have to pass on some of the lower end guys. You have to pass in general on being too obsessed with finding those "under the radar" talents. You look elsewhere and find the most athleticism and talent you can get. You develop relationships and connections to get in touch with other recruits.

If one year Utah has 15 of the most talented guys to fill your current class needs out of the 20-25 you'll take, by all means get them. I agree that you're not likely to experience this year to year, and I also agree that position-wise, you're just not likely to get many RBs and WRs, or corners or even QBs. It's definitely where you use your connections in CA and Tx.

Just saying, they recruit lower end talent from other states as well, so the point is to cut that altogether and get the best you can at home/LDS, and then the best you can elsewhere. I'll take Puka Nacua over basically any WR we'd reasonably recruit from CA or TX. The real "problem" is lower end talent in general.
