I don't live too far from Pocatello and saw him play a few times.
I don't think he will be a star player at the college level. IMO, and this is hard because I am not an expert on basketball talent and he was soooo much better than the other players on the court, he is good at just about everything but not good enough at any one thing to be really good at it in college. I think he could be a really glue type of kid. He is good enough to hurt opposing teams if they ignore him but I doubt he will be good enough that anyone will gameplan to stop him. I think he was worth the scholarship and could start as a junior and senior but will be the 3rd best scorer at best, an average perimeter defender (i.e. better than your normal LDS RM perimeter defender but no Jackson Emery) a good rebounder for a wing and a great team player.

Anyone expecting all conference ability is going to be woefully unfullfilled, angry and calling for Dave Rose's (or whoever the coach is) job. You think the morons who don't get basketball howled on Payton Dastrup's behalf wait until they have the blessing of getting to whine on behalf of a noble son of the 208! Although the times they are achangein and we have another area code here in God's country, I just can't recall what it is.

He also came home from his mission for a season and then returned so he will not be available until 2019-2020.
