This is anecdotal too, but a true account. A acquaintance of mine had to have one eye
enucleated (removed) due to an accident at work.

He put it off as long as he could because he didn't want to have a prosthetic eye and the problems that can come with that.

He finally decided to go ahead because the pain was getting to be unmanageable. So he had the eye removed. After a few weeks he could tell that the pain was even greater than before the enucleation.

Meds helped very little with the pain. He was becoming very depressed because of the ongoing pain. For most people who have an eye removed the pain subsides after a few weeks and then there is no pain at all.

He continued to have bad pain for more than a year after the enucleation. This guy was not a prior MJ user but one of his buddies suggested that he try some to see if it would help with his pain. He tried it and found that after smoking a joint the pain nearly totally went away.

Then he found that if he smoked some pot twice a week he didn't have any more issues with the pain.

True story. So he still continues with the pot twice a week, it's been years now.
