Utah in pro sports is probably as unique as BYU for college as far as attracting certain people. It has nothing to do with being BYU fans or Jabari having anything to do with BYU. Utah Jazz fans need to look realistically about the kind of guys they can attract, facing the fact that Utah isn't a place where you can do much. So you take a guy with loads of family in the state and who wouldn't mind it, it's naturally a consideration. From there you can factor in whether or not you really want the player but if you get to start with a profile that suggests the guy might actually want to live here, you gotta look.
