One of the difficult things is those left behind regaining their focus and morale after the lay offs. I think the announcement and the few days to share the difficulties with one another will, in a strange way, help those remaining be able to move forward with focus quicker. When you stand up one day and realize half the cubicles around you are empty it can take a lot out of you and can take a while to rebuild confidence in the company.
