1. Stay to the right as much as practicable for your particular situation
2. Get up to the speed of the particular roadway (usually freeway) you are about to merge onto prior to merging
3. Stay at the speed of a roadway (usually freeway) until exiting
4. Do not slow down to change lanes
5. Actually turn your head to your blind spot before changing lanes
6. Signal the requisite 2 seconds prior to initiating the lane change
7. When in doubt if you will make a yellow light, stop
8. Drive with the flow of traffic, even if it may slightly exceed the posted limit
9. Only use hands free even for talking on the phone
10. If you are going to use the express lane, be legal and have the intestinal fortitude to go faster than traffic on the rest of the freeway if traffic slows down. That is kind of the point of the express lane.
