He often did all of those at the same meet, except he never ran the 1600 and 3200 on the same day. But I saw him win the 400/800/1600 and anchor the winning 4x400 relay all within 3 hours of each other at least once. Incredible talent – and he was only a sophomore at the time. The only two guys in San Diego County that could beat him that year in the distance stuff were a guy who's since won Olympic medals and the NY Marathon, and another guy that was within 1-2 seconds of that guy. Oh – and they were the two fastest milers in the entire country that year.
The talent some people have is amazing. Unfortunately I don't think the guy from my HS amounted to much after that because he really didn't apply himself. He was doing it all off natural talent. Nice guy but apparently no work ethic or desire.
