I've been thinking about that a lot. It depends on how you view a mission, if
it's just to contact people, get them educated about the church and possibly baptized, then I think athletics is very comparable (probably much greater in influence).

But, if you view a mission as more of a personal preparation for life, then a 2-year proselyting mission has a greater impact. I often view my mission as more valuable for my personal growth and strength than those who I introduced to the church.
