Because none of those experiences ever take place anywhere but camping.
Hotels don't mess up your reservations. Children don't get sick in hotels. Hotels don't have unexpected surprises.
Yeah, it might be easier to deal with some of these things while in a hotel. But, with proper preparation, camping is a lot of fun, and a unique experience you can't have elsewhere.
