The VA, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, and ... Kaiser Permanente.

Kaiser killed my mom. Over a period of a year and a half, she went to an ENT time after time.

Doc: "Your throat is just sore. I see some irritation. Here's a steroid spray."
Mom: "My throat isn't just sore. Something is wrong. I think it is cancer. It feels like something is catching when I swallow."

Finally after about a year of this, the ENT did a biopsy. Nothing showed up. My mom went back the next month.
"It's not better. I have cancer." After a few more months of back and forth, he did a second biopsy. Oh crap, we have an egg-sized tumor here. Time to start massive radiation. I cannot remember how many dosages of radiation she got (been 20 years), but I asked a couple of docs about it and they freaked at how much radiation in such a short time was given to a 60 year old. It ended up my mom's throat came apart and she bled out. Not surprising, the oncologist and ent went into hiding. Kaiser put up a firewall in a hurry and my dad didn't have it in him to sue.

Bottom line is a lot of people are stuck with awful medical care. We pay a lot of money for crap.
