RE: what is the benefit of a G5 conference - honest question.
1. Much better competition for all non-football sports than the WCC.
2. Chance to play for a league title.
3. Better late season competition.
4. Something to play for after we lose early games.
5. Play traditional rivals.
6. MWC level of competition more clearly reflects the reality of our program. Look at BSU’s schedule. It would be perfect for BYU.
7. We aren’t really independent in the sense that Notre Dame is independent. We essentially are an exhibition team that goes around playing meaningless, one-off games in far flung places for money. It’s all we play for. The original goal of using independence to position our program for admittance to a P5 is lost. We’re stuck in a no-man’s land.
