Detmer had enough coaching experience even to teach his assistants.
The conspiracy theorist has stumbled onto some truths, but latches onto the wrong theories. That Detmer wasn't the man behind the hiring of all of his assistants has always been fairly obvious. What that highlights is that Detmer was coming from the small town high school ranks over a thousand miles away. He didn't exactly have a ton of college coaching connections.
That Kalani, with Tom's buy-in, surrounded Ty, an inexperienced college OC to say the least, with a ton of inexperienced assistants speaks to Kalani not being ready for the job as HC.
Problem is that Ty allowed himself to be surrounded by a bunch of inexperienced assistants. No matter how much we can point blame at Kalani, and there's a ton of blame we can point at Kalani (and Tom), Ty still should have never been hired as the OC. His firing was completely justified.
And yes, we should no doubt see significant improvement over last season's complete and total dumpster fire of an offense.
