and used more whimsical music, it would be an awful lot like Veep. It turns out that Succession is created by a frequent collaborator of Armando Iannucci, the creator of Veep. Both wrote The Thick of It (The British show Veep is loosely based on) and In the Loop. There's a thin line between drama and comedy when you write the way those guys do. I consider Succession a drama despite laughing at many of the things people do and say in the show. The bitterness and spite is so over the top that it's funny.
