REad what it actually says
BYU royalty rates have gone from around 7 just a few short years ago, to several points north of there now. Also note that several brands have gotten some level of exclusivity, ie.. no more UA, and Zephyr has some level of hat deal. Both Nike and Zephyr probably ponied up big time for that increase. so lets say you get 5% more across a 2-3M business, and sales are off a half million as reported, it would still result in more royalties.
I would actually state that for me, as a guy who has over 300 pieces of BYU apparel, between shirts, hats, shorts, pants, watches, etc. I have never seen a poorer selection in terms of apparel. Wasn't that long ago that you could buy Ping, Ogio, Broader selection of Cutter and Buck, wide range of UA, broader assortment of Adidas, and many other premium brands. That is not the case today. Case in point for me, is two years ago, I spent over 5K in the bookstore, and another 2K at Scheel's, haven't spent even $500 the last 18 months.
