My son got Lyme from his very first tick bite ever the year we moved to
Northern Virginia. After a few days he developed the bulls eye rash and became delirious. He slept constantly and began sweating profusely. Fortunately we were able to treat for Lyme (despite the TRICARE nurse recommending home-care...and you liberals want government health care...) aggressively once the doctor saw him and he has no lingering symptoms. He’s 11 now.

Ticks on the east coast are the devils agent.

No idea about the Rocky Mountain area but most bug people believe nearly all ticks on the east coast carry Lyme.
