I posted about this in the other thread, but its really a different topic than the OP intended. I clicked around some major years, 1980, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1990, 1996, 2007, 2008, and I didn't find another year with a more widespread distribution of the ball than 2006. John Beck had NINE receivers with greater than 200 yards receiving that year. In 2005 he had seven with two more in the 100's.
That's a pretty difficult offense to defend. With so many different consistent possible receivers, it was hard to stop him. Obviously there is more to being a quarterback, but his ability to spread the ball around was uniquely awesome.
