Since Utah started playing P5 schedules, they've had
2011 - 7 regular season wins
2012 - 5 wins
2013 - 5 wins
2014 - 8 wins
2015 - 9 wins
2016 - 8 wins
2017 - 6 wins

Keep in mind, in their best season, they didn't have to play the PAC-12 champ who clobbered Iowa in the Rose Bowl (Stanford) or a 9-win Washington State team. They also got Oregon early in the season after they lost Mariota. After Oregon lost to Utah and dropped out of the rankings, they got it together after also losing to Washington State and then finished ranked #15 going into their bowl game.

That's what it took for them to get to NINE regular season wins.

In those 3 seasons combined between 2014-16 where they won 8 games or more each season, they had to play 3 teams that were ranked in the top 10 at the time and lost to all 3 of them. BYU plays 2 teams this year alone that will be in the top 10 with a third possible if Boise State beats Oklahoma State and comes into that BYU game 8-0.

Also, keep in mind, that BYU's P5 opponents have a MUCH easier schedule coming into their BYU games than Utah's because of the PAC-12 conference schedule. AND, our P5 schedule requires a more considerable amount of travel than theirs does.

Our revenues, even without student fees and PAC-12 money, still comes in pretty much in line with their revenues, which happen to be towards the bottom of the PAC-12 alongside Oregon State, Washington State and Colorado.

And, we have to recruit towards an honor code and academic standards that they don't have - along with the idea that they take on people who other programs release because of legal issues, including Oregon.

That should help align our expectations a little.
