BYU would be in the playoff pic if they were 12-0 & probably if they were 11-1
A win in WA or WI early in the season (plus wins over Cal and UA) would have them ranked high early. Nobody would discount those wins with a loss to a top 10 WA or WI on the road. Plus, they'd end strong with a fun game AT UU. Even the committee wouldn't dare screw it up.
That said, we live in reality. BYU has to really, really, really, really play well to just get to 8-9 wins this season.
