Utah started giving our offense problems under McBride. The knew us well and built teams to stop us. People used to complain that no one knew how tough it was for BYU in the WAC/MWC because we got every single team’s best shot.
One guy actually argued vehemently that BYU play the toughest schedule in the nation every year due to this factor. Can’t remember if that was cougarboard or some other forum, but he was sure convinced. Boise has faced something similar since ascending to relevance.
Playing mostly teams that haven’t been good and actually being good yourself has accounted for Boise St’s success at home.
