Very different than other sports.
They are competitive and very divided atmospheres to begin with. There's been plenty coming out about the Seahawks locker room and tons of stuff about Tom Brady pushing Jimmy G out.
I had a long conversation with a guy who is an NFL agent for several prominent players. And, he said even the top teams have very divided locker rooms that are very competitive. This is due to a number of factors, one being the size of teams and the other the fact that many guys are competing against each other for spots and playing time. Essentially you have to beat your own teammates out for your own livelihood. He said most guys closest friends are not on the team. And, players will almost always opt for the higher paying contract no matter what team it is with and even if it's only a small difference.
I don't think Bell is making the right decision. But, I also don't think teams will shy away from him for being a "locker room divider." The NFL is not the NBA, guys don't have to be friends and almost all of them are looking out for number one.
