#10 North Carolina in 2015 and #10 Colorado in 2016.

There are 2 spots available outside the top 10 every single year - one for the G5 team usually and another because there's 12 teams total in these bowls. In 2015, #12 Ole Miss played #16 OK State. OK State made it to the Sugar Bowl as the Big 12 rep when OU made the playoff keeping UNC out.

In 2016, #11 Florida and #14 Auburn made it. Auburn made it to the Sugar Bowl as the SEC rep as Alabama was the only SEC top 10 team that year.

Cotton Bowl: 1. Alabama vs. 4. Ohio State
Orange Bowl: 2. Georgia vs. 3. Clemson
Rose Bowl: 7. Stanford vs. 9. Penn State
Sugar Bowl: 5. LSU vs. 6. Oklahoma
Fiesta Bowl: 8. Notre Dame vs. 13. UCF
Peach Bowl: 10. Auburn vs. 11. Washington

Top 10 ranking would put us in the Fiesta or Peach Bowl.
