Here’s what I’ve noticed, specifically within the last 7 years:
BYU (admin) went indy- BYU gets support from espn, keeps all revenue, etc.

BYU (ad) begins scheduling tougher. Front loading the schedule is basically murderers row when you don’t have depth. This makes the lack luster games in november incredibly difficult to play and perform at a high level.

BYU coaches attempt to implement a quick fix by going after the JC athlete. This has become harder and harder for ALL sports. The argument is, by admin, if the athlete didn’t qualify out of hs, odds are they won’t make it after a few years at a JC. Getting them into school is seriously trying to pull teeth.

As a result, BYU doesn’t improve (back to football). BYU faces typical 7-5 seasons at best simply due to health and lack of depth.

Coaches go back to the AD and admin and say they need more support... that irks admin- who already feel they bend over backwards letting athletics use intramural facilities...

Trend continues until its over
