What is it with this year's women's volleyball team?

Not ashamed to say it. The two matches this weekend were some of the best BYU sporting moments I've experienced at BYU! The SFH was electric Friday and Saturday!

My opinion? BYU has the 'it' factor this year. They're not as tall, not as athletic, not as well funded, not part of a P5 conference, but they flat out love the game. They love playing for each other. And they exude leadership all over the court. Other teams with a loss the likes of McKenna Miller (and don't forget Jennifer Hamson) would fold - not necessarily because of a lack of depth of talent - but because the team dynamic would be disrupted. Granted, BYU struggled a bit after McKenna's injury (inexplicable LMU loss), but that's when leadership and a love of the game / each other created a new team dynamic that's not just working - it nearly swept / swept storied programs the likes of Florida and Texas in region play. Stanford is a tough draw in the semi's, but I'm not putting anything past the Lady Cougs at this point. They've lived up to their tourney seed (#4) and have the opportunity to regain the ranking they carried most of the season this weekend.

The ride's not over yet, but it's been AWESOME to this point! Thanks, Heather and team, for making Cougar fans proud!
