Reports that byu admissions has upped its standards for athletes and there are limited number of exceptions given each year. Whether or not it’s a hard and fast rule of no for nonqualifiers out of hs, even with associate degree now, is unclear. But byu has been offering very few JC players the past year.
From cb posts I’ve seen and what’s been talked about on 960, it sounds like this new direction is partially coming from holmoe’s boss and not the President, although I’d expect that Worthlin is involved in signing off. I’ve heard sime say that Holmoe’s boss is the main problem and an over-zealous academic czar. I can’t remember his name.
Byu is missing out on some great nonlds kids that used to make byu football what it was and add great diversity to the university. It’s sad and not right.
