I've been told by coaches they are really wanting to look at specific players at these camps not so much new talent. I know they've reached out to players in the past and asked them to attend (so they can get more info and tape) on these players.
I think the hey camp MVP is more a thanks for coming out thing. I don't think it's a knock on Seth as much as it's a we only really cared about X people that showed up. It's a disservice to many that spend money to travel across the country, ect.
I haven't talked with Seth's dad about the camp specifically but my bet is they said okay show up to another one or do this or that. Again, not knowing who he was prior likely didn't help.
As an example... I have an 11 yr old son that pitches. I will post video, ect of his lessons on Instagram and tag BYU Baseball and some of the BYU Baseball coaches. They liked the video and reached out and invited him to camps. I asked specially what the point was (he's 11 duh) and they said to get his name in front of coaches now. So when he is 15-16 and he is showing up on the registration lists they know the name.
