I've long loved some of the film adaptations of the book, but had never read it
myself, so a couple weeks ago I decided I'd read it to my 5 year old son, and then planned on watching one of the movies (probably a Muppet Christmas Carol). After a few days of reading though, my son asked me to stop because he was totally freaked out. He's never been overly spooked by anything, loves talking about zombies, monsters, and other spooky things, but for a week now, he won't go into his room by himself because he's afraid of ghosts coming to him.

Yeah, I feel like father of the year. Made my kid scared of ghosts in his room by reading A Christmas Carol to him.
