But "caring" and getting worked up about it are two different things. Plenty of people here care about it and like to follow. But they don't lose their minds when a kid doesn't commit or sign, or freak out about team rankings, or all of the other knee jerk reactions we see. Most of those people are the ones who don't follow it but once a year where they figure they should head over and see what the latest team rankings are, what the number of stars are, how many offers, so they can form their recruiting opinion back on CB and have something to talk about.
Plenty of others find a way to stay sane about it, follow closely throughout the year, and have fun watching the back and forth and ins and outs of it all. I care because the whole reason I wanted to work in that field was to be a part of student athletes getting a chance at higher education and getting to live their dream on the field at the same time.
I find that many of the people who run their annual rants saying "ugh, I don't know why anyone cares anyway," are the people who recently got caught up in being upset that BYU didn't land someone. They want to care until something doesn't go their way. That's fine. It's not for them. But they shouldn't go run to CB during this time of year to complain about all of the above (team rankings, 2 star guys, offer lists, etc), when they look at it for about one week out of the year.
