When you look into the stories behind the songs, most of them are deeply personal about Brandon and his wife and their family. It's one of my favorite albums of the last 10 years because there are a ton of parallels with my and my wife's lives but I rarely listen to it because it's so emotionally taxing on me. I've never experienced an album like that before.
On the music side, it has its ups and downs but overall, they do some really fun stuff like in the song Wonderful, Wonderful for example. It's like Pink Floyd was resurrected with some modern twists. Run for Cover is a throwback to those who want the older Killers stuff. I didn't like the man at first but I like it a lot now that I'm used to the feel and know what it's about. Rut is a song he wrote from his wife's perspective on confronting a pretty severe depression and PTSD. Some Kind of Love was written to lift his wife's Spirits and encourage her as well as a reflection on when he had to quit the last leg of his tour because his family needed him.
Anyway, good album. Quite heavy.
