Opportunity to contribute. All but one of those guys weren't even real transfers. They were part mission flips. Basically still recruits, so yes, obviously it was still about their recruiting hype. And the other guy was a P5 freshman starter, so it was about his already displayed talent and potential.
That's about as apples and oranges comparison as you can make. No, it's not a "Kalani thing." Hunt has spent years in a D1 program and so far may have two problems. Either can't stay healthy as a college athlete, or isn't turning out. I shouldn't say or, because his injury history is a fact. So he's not turning out due to injury, or a bit of both so far. Neither is good.
An example of someone pumping really old and by that point irrelevant recruiting hype, was when a certain CBer was loving the Badger transfer from ND. He kept referencing how many others Badger had put of HS, even though he'd already been removed from those recruiting days by about 4 or 5 years and still hadn't done anything. Someone's HS recruitment no longer matters one they've had years to produce in college and just didn't turn out. Happens everywhere.
Hunt vs those players is apples/oranges situation though.
