It can take a week or 2 to get used to them. If it feels like a speck of dust in your eye, that might just be a "getting
used to having something in your eye" thing. If it feels like it's floating over the surface of your eye, if you feel it moving around, then there could be a problem with how your doctor measured the curvature of your eye's surface. If it feels dry, you should ask for a lens that lets more air through. My daily lenses feel lots better than my other lenses used to feel.

Another thing-- could you possibly have torn your lens? When you're first wearing lenses, usually you struggle putting them in and taking them out, and this rough handling can cause a little tear in the edge. This will REALLY irritate your eye. To check for this, put the lens on your fingertip, and inspect the edge. Any imperfection in the perfect curved edge of the lens is a problem. If you find a little speck missing out of the edge, or a tear, you need to stop wearing the lens right now, and call your doctor for a new trial pair.

I had a Lasik consultation. They said I could never wear contact lenses again after that surgery. (They also said, with my powerful prescription, they couldn't do better than 20/40, if that.) So, you might want to give contacts a longer chance before you go Lasik. (Hwr, my little sister got Lasik several years ago, and still has perfect eyesight.)

Good luck!
