You know how people sometimes compare consuming high brow versus low brow movies, books, etc. to eating your vegetables versus eating junk food? LOTR is like eating something with the taste of vegetables but the nutritional value of basically junk food.
There are worse books to spend your time on, but there are definitely a lot of better books, too.
