I've lived in 4 places in the last 10 years: Sierra Vista, AZ, DC area (Northern Virginia) Southern Aurora, CO, and the Wasatch Front in Utah. Of those 4 places, Colorado and Utah are by far the most similar. I lived very near the places you mentioned and they are no different than newer communities in Utah in Riverton, Day Break, Heriman, and parts o Lehi. Honestly, the only time I saw real racial diversity there was when I went to a Walmart in Northern Aurora. It was like I transported to a completely different place. I did encounter several Indians on account of me working in the Denver Tech Center. But with the rise of Utah's own tech center, there has been an increase in the Indian population in Utah (I love Indian food). The weather is very similar (the summers are a little cooler in Denver than Utah). Denver has an edge on restaurants but not by a huge margin. The margin between DC and Denver is far greater than the one between Denver and Utah.
DC, on the other hand, was a very different place than Utah or Denver.
