La Jolla Shores is the nicest, waves are mellow, not a ton of weirdos
Unlike Ocean Mission or Pacific Beach. On second thought Coronado right next to Hotel Del Coronado is cool, and a walkable section to just stroll shops and eat, ice cream etc
Balboa Park has a kid museum also
Take the Coaster train up to Oceanside or San Clemente, do stuff and take it back down - probably 1 hour each way
