Me and my wife did this several times for a family before we had our own kids
$100/day was what they paid us. We felt we were getting a good deal because we were eating their food, driving their cars, using their utilities, etc.
$100/day is reasonable. It doesn't make sense to think about it from an hourly wage, IMO.

$100 per day

That’s below minimum wage, even subtracting the hours they are at school.

Are you counting sleeping hours?

Yup. Unless she gets to go home in the middle of the night.

That’s a sweet gig. Most wives would make more than the national average

Except for the watching your own kids deal.

Right, I get that. But it’s silly to set watching kids pay higher than a regular
bluecougar1985

Yeah. I can see that

Full time at $26k/year is $12.50 an hour. Well above minimum wage

At 40 hours per week it is, not if you count sleeping hours. Then it’s less then

Yup. But like I said, if a 24 hour nanny accepts 26k, she’s getting ripped off
TCuz

That is what I found to be the going rate.

Full time nannys, even live in nannys, do not have an obligation to the kids
CougHomer

I agree, just not at the same rate.

If you ask them to name their price
2FarGone

Then you’re paying too much.

How many kids do you have?
kccougar
1/18/19 2:48pm
Zero. Does having kids give you a right to be cheap or something?
TCuz
1/18/19 2:49pm
That’s not being cheap. You obviously are ignorant on this topic. I appreciate you trying not to be cheap. But you’re

What is the age and relationship?
bluecougar1985

Older single sister in our ward, who has a nice relationship with our kids

I think $500 is fair, the going rate is probably higher. $10 per hour for awake
bluecougar1985

I would pay more than I thought was necessary just to
