Does this REQUIRE that I use "microsoft accounts" or will it work with "local accoumaybents"?

Maybe you can help me with a related question .... I also have an old laptop that was ORIGINALLY Vista I think. Anyway, I updated it from Vista to Win 7 before, and then Win7 to Win 10. Sometime about two years ago, it decided that it wasn't "Genuine Windows" after an update ... WHY? It doesn't really matter, since I really only keep that laptop since it has an HDMI port and easy to connect to TVs if we need one (and all our newer laptops have HDMI so it really isn't all the useful anymore). BUT I would like to.... understand why it decided I am not genuine .... because I don't want to see that happen to one that I am really using....
