quite frequently looking for nurses to be hired into the ICUs. I only had about 2 years of experience before getting in - 1 year in Psych and 1 year in the acute care float pool. Maybe part of it is just the timing because I have seen them hire new grads straight out of nursing school into the ICU.
As far as advanced degrees, I considered everything from CRNA, FNP, ACNP, and even Pharmacy school. I ultimately decided to do this because I enjoy patient interaction and CRNA just didn't seem very enjoyable to me. I didn't do Pharmacy school because I would have had to go back to school for 2 years of pre-reqs and just kinda wanted to get something done and move on.
I'm at the University of Cincinnati online so everything we do has deadlines but we work week to week and find our own clinical rotations.
