I was on my mission in Brazil. I assumed initially it was just a worm
But after throwing up everything I ate and stomach pain that wouldn't go away, the landlord (who was a member) took me to the public ER. Eventually people got a hold of the MP and he arranged to transfer me to a normal hospital. Interestingly, the same doctor did the operation as would have done it in the public ER though I was pretty nervous about having surgery there. Fun times.
After the surgery, they brought me my appendix in a jar but they then wanted it back to run tests. I should have declined...would have made an interesting trophy. I did at least get a picture holding it.
