In the case of Francis Bernard there was definitely some spite involved, and that's not just conjecture. Obviously sometimes it just makes sense for the player's personal circumstances. Riley is from Mantua up north. Austin Lee's wife and family are huge BYU fans. But if I were a player, I'd rather just make my good graces with the former fanbase and go to a team that doesn't have much beef with my old school.
