I think the key word here is "actual," my point is many children are being
labeled with being "on the spectrum" when they probably shouldn't need to be. Being labeled "on the spectrum" is the same hurt to a parent as being labeled autistic. Autistic is a word that is thrown around a ton to describe kids that are nowhere near it. Or the "high functioning autism" label. So many parents are being told that their child is "on the spectrum" and they are looking for answers.

But sometimes the the old saying of "If you want to understand why the student is who they are, meet the parents," is a true statement. There are many kids who are just part of an odd family structure and have awkward social capabilities because of it. Case in point, the two kids I mentioned above had very "odd" parents. One was even a doctor. Smart guy, but don't expect much socially. He never could grasp sarcasm. I thought that was odd even at 12. But he was a doctor.

The point is many kids are getting "labeled" that something is wrong with them, which is causing parents to be fearful, and to look for fictional causes. Most of those kids are just unique and don't need a label. They just need to grow up and be themselves.
