Spent six months on my mission in Santander.....if you are going in the summer it has some very nice beaches and scenery.....get a hotel right on the main beach....you can head west from there along the coastline and visit some small tourist towns and Picos de Europa.

Also spent six months in Santiago de Compostella which is the pilgrimage destination for El Camino and worth visiting for a couple of days.

Santander was my favorite location in all my Spain journeys.
